This is the 'lower end' of the metal dual diagonal pipe.

Note the top red badly drawn circle connects the metal dual pipe to
the plastic ridged pipe behind it. You need to remove it.
Use pliers to remove/break this thing off. Don't damage the ridged pipe!

One of the metal pipes bends down and around, and connects to yet
another rubber tube. I show in dotted lines where the lower rubber tube
extends to another metal clamp which I circled. (Call this connection S2.)

This rubber pipe is a real pain in the ass to remove:

  • First use pliers to get the clamp high up on the rubber tube
  • Loosen it as much as you can with a screwdriver. From this angle you
    can reach one side, and then try to get as much as
    you can from the other side.
  • With regards to pulling on the tube itself:
    I had the most success by holding the tube against a screwdriver,
    and then pulling the screwdriver. (Trying to grab the tube itself with
    both hands is awkward.
