Notes: That rubber thing is a pain to get on.
I ended up doing the steps in this order:

• stick the rubber/screw gizmo on the U
• stick the screwed U in the hole and tighten it just enough so it doesn't pop out
• stick the two halves of the pipe in the bypass, which may require shifting stuff all over the place.
• slightly tighten everything.
