At one point the boat stopped and you were given the option of going down the ladder and playing with the water.
Here I am kicking around the water.

It turns out in fact, that although they initially said you were not allowed to swim, they let you fully submerge yourself in the water, if you wanted! However, none of us was wearing any swimsuits, nor really had any towels.
We just weren't expecting to get very wet.
