Surrounding Bern is the river Aare, which I had been walking along the sides of.
There were signs all over the place telling people that it's dangerous to swim in the Aare, due to the current.
I guess tons of people do anyway - and as a result you have tons of life preservers scattered everywhere.
In this picture alone there are four of them!
